Energy Management Pilot to Provide Whole Building Optimization

ATLANTA, July 30, 2007 - Prenova, Inc., one of the nation’s largest energy management solutions providers, is pleased to announce that a major discount chain has contracted for Prenova’s Predictive Diagnostics program.

A significant percentage of this discount chain’s portfolio will be involved in this program, which is part of Prenova’s Asset OptimizationSM solution.  Prenova will deliver its Predictive Diagnostics program to support the retailer’s goal for optimization of whole store systems, including refrigeration and other energy-related assets.

The Predictive Diagnostics program is an automated solution that includes real-time monitoring, troubleshooting and the addressing of functionality and performance of whole building systems. Prenova will first begin with its Statistical Portfolio Profiler. This analyzes historical bill data across the discount chain’s portfolio to determine kWh/sqft for each location, and then plots each store’s usage performance around a median based upon the range exhibited by the portfolio. The resultant location plots are grouped into four operational performance ranges. This allows for quick prioritization of those sites that are in most need of the Predictive Diagnostics solution - those sites that fall into the higher-than-normal operating range for kWh/sqft are the best candidates for beginning this work and driving the highest value early.

We then apply our Parameter Standardization Program, which is a diagnostics program that analyzes and reports on those assets at each site that are operating out of the range prescribed by the discount chain’s business operating standards.  This program operates through a remote connection to the retailer’s Energy Management System.  With the discount chain’s approval, Prenova can implement automated resetting of compliance parameters at all sites in the program.

We then apply our VirtualAuditSM tool, which creates a baseline of asset performance by identifying and prioritizing relevant factors driving any suboptimal performance. The process also includes a methodology for estimating excess energy consumption due to suboptimal performance. Our VirtualAudit tool also incorporates Prenova’s capability to remotely correct identified issues when possible, and work with on-site technicians when required to ensure service maintenance QA.

These tools work in tandem to proactively evaluate the performance of each asset, and then evaluate the interrelated operation of those assets to rate the efficiency and effectiveness of the whole building system.
