Solution: Innovation is one of Prenova’s core competencies, and we have recently pioneered the development of a revolutionary set of Demand Response offerings. Prenova has designed advanced strategies and proven, real-time solutions for mitigating peak energy demand without the need for interrupting customers’ business services. This advance is crucial to our customer base, whose operations require the assurance of continuous, comfortable and safe shopping or dining environments for their patrons – at all times. Prenova’s customers can now realize value from their participation in a range of Demand Response programs while their operations are maintained, and peak energy reductions are achieved.
During Demand Response events, our smart systems and automated intelligence enable Prenova to design strategies to dynamically and automatically take control and remotely operate our customers’ assets from our Real Time Network Operations Center (NOC).
With Prenova’s Non-Interruptible Demand Response, end-use customers can preserve their operating environments and still participate via several options:
- Substitution: as agreed with our customers, either manually or through remote intervention from Prenova’s NOC, customers take advantage of alternate, available on-site power generation in place of utility power (e.g. on-site generator) in response to market signals.
- Load Rolling: through remote intervention from Prenova’s NOC, asset/equipment and building systems are cycled on and off in a fashion which reduces peak demand without negatively impacting business operations. This “round robin rotation” of cooling/heating systems reduces energy demand while maintaining the desired level of comfort for patrons and employees. This action is remotely and automatically performed in response to a market signal.
- Advanced Direct Control: through remote analysis and management from Prenova’s NOC, building systems and asset equipment components are controlled to operate at pre-defined speeds and peaks within an overall optimized performance model.
Outcome: Ultimately, our customers’ operations are maintained and peak energy demand is reduced. Customers are able to extract value from Demand Response programs via the upfront remuneration offered by utilities for participation. This financial recognition supports our customers’ contributions towards alleviating grid imbalance and protecting continuity of energy supplies. |
