Prenova Saves Major Retailers Over $45 Million in Energy Costs
Utility bill audits, energy supply management, and energy efficiency improvements contribute to retail success
ATLANTA, GA – September 01, 2009 – Today, Prenova, a privately held energy services provider managing over $2 billion in energy spend for dozens of national brands, announces performance tracking results for the first half of 2009. To date, Prenova has saved its clients over $45 million in energy-related costs.
The $45 million figure includes savings derived from proactively monitoring energy-intensive equipment (e.g. HVAC, Lighting, and Refrigeration)to ensure it is operating efficiently. Effective energy procurement programs, rebate management, and monthly utility bill audits also contributed to this result. Savings calculations are based on a number of factors, including weather-adjusted historical energy consumption, avoided service costs, reduction in customers’ utility rates, and the dollar value of billing errors identified.
“Companies choose Prenova because we deliver consistent savings and because we address all aspects of energy management,” said Michael Nark, Prenova’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “From controlling utility costs to reducing overall consumption, we target the entire energy lifecycle. The $45 million in savings we’ve delivered so far this year is the direct result of this cohesive approach.”
Most retailers are aware that improving the energy efficiency of their locations can deliver significant savings. In fact, Prenova’s research shows that energy efficiency projects are ongoing, despite the downturn in the economy. Many times, however, money is left on the table due to a lack of experienced personnel who know how to get the best energy rates and due to a lack bandwidth and tools to check every utility bill for accuracy. Prenova is the only company currently addressing all of these savings opportunities for its customers.
