Prenova's Avoided Service Calls Hit a Record High, Yielding Additional Energy-Related Savings for Customers

ATLANTA, GA - September 30, 2008 - In these days of escalating energy prices, and with no relief in sight, Prenova has been very successful assisting its customers in reducing energy spend across both the supply and demand spectrum. For customers utilizing both supply and demand services, spend has decreased more than 12% on a sustainable basis against their established baseline. An additional area of energy-related expenditures that can be overlooked is asset service maintenance. In today’s challenging economic climate, many organizations are electing to stretch out preventive maintenance schedules and delay service calls unless they represent emergencies.

“Since January 2008, on average, we have avoided at least one service call per customer site per month,” said Michael Nark, President and CEO of Prenova, “and that represents a significant, positive impact to site-level utility and maintenance budgets. We are able to achieve this through our connection to our customer’s Energy Management System, which allows us to assess the energy-related assets and remotely perform corrective actions for almost 60% of the site level issues we identify. These savings are important to our customers – we are able to quickly identify and stem waste in energy consumption due to poor performing assets, and provide visibility into asset operations and resulting performance trends that help our customers predict future maintenance budget levels.”

“Our customers realize that not addressing an asset performance issue over a year’s time can cost a small box retailer up to three times more than the cost of a service call due to energy price escalations that compound excess usage,” continued Nark. “We assist them by remotely correcting those issues where we can to avoid the service call altogether, and then prioritizing asset issues that require an on-site technician by balancing the cost of the call versus the excess energy usage, price per unit consumed and impact on asset life.”

Prenova’s ability to remotely correct asset performance issues and avoid service calls also positively impacts the environment by eliminating unnecessary truck rolls and curbing excess consumption, both of which reduce the potential increment in greenhouse gas emissions that would have been generated.
