Prenova Launches Solution to Assist Customers in Maintaining Store Comfort
ATLANTA, GA - October 28, 2008 - As part of ensuring store comfort and business reliability across a large and dispersed portfolio of stores, retailers have often spent a significant amount of time assessing, creating and implementing business operating parameters to ensure that best practices are maintained across their operation. However, those parameters are easily overridden at the site level, and very often, this is invisible until the energy bills begin to show the impact. In fact, violation of corporate-established business parameters for store operations drives inefficient energy usage - in most cases, up to 10% of the overall spend. Prenova has developed and launched its remotely automated “Parameter Standardization Program” that addresses that very issue. The Parameter Standardization Program (PSP) is a diagnostics program that analyzes and reports on those energy-related assets at each site that are not operating in compliance with the customer’s business operating standards.
“Our Parameter Standardization Program begins with a compliance review and analysis of a retailer’s business rules to determine optimal set points and standards for each site,” said Michael Nark, President and CEO of Prenova. “This program operates through a remote connection to the customer’s Energy Management System. Prenova programs in all operating standards, such as set points, economizer settings, fan modes and lighting schedules, via the Energy Management System, and then is notified via the system when an override occurs. Prenova automatically resets conditions to be in compliance with agreed parameters at all sites in the program.”
“The Parameter Standardization Program generates anywhere from 7% to 10% in energy savings, and ensures that store comfort is maintained on a consistent basis across the portfolio,” continued Nark. “These savings are important to our customers – we are able to quickly identify and stem waste in energy consumption due to human intervention at the site level, and provide visibility into non-compliant sites to assist store operations in supplying energy awareness training. Today, energy costs are often the second ranking operating cost for a retailer, and the ability to quickly target and eliminate potential waste real-time is more important than ever.”
This diagnostic tool works in tandem with Prenova’s suite of Asset Optimization services to proactively evaluate the performance of designated building systems and optimize the customer’s energy-related assets, generating the lowest possible energy usage levels and CO2 emissions.
