Prenova and West Marine Put an Anchor Down to Drive Sustainability

ATLANTA, GA - July 31, 2008 - Prenova has expanded its relationship with West Marine to jointly investigate ways to further reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions via sustainable reduction initiatives. This joint exploration effort was kicked off at West Marine’s Sustainability Conference that was held earlier this year. West Marine invited a number of their energy-related partners to the conference to discuss new developments in energy conservation technologies, and to explore how all partners could work together to optimize environmental protection through greenhouse gas reductions.

As part of this expansion, West Marine has renewed its contract with Prenova for energy management. The contract renewal includes Bill Payment and Bill Audit, along with Price Risk Management. West Marine has added Energy Star Reporting and Rebates to Prenova’s contract extension to further their commitment to the environment in the retailer’s efforts to support sustainability throughout the organization. This reporting service provides West Marine with the ability to compare their stores’ energy usage and identify risks and opportunities for future actionning through Prenova’s demand side energy management.

“Energy expenditures are one of the fastest growing and most volatile operating expenses for retailers,” said Michael Nark, President and CEO of Prenova. “Energy is now the second or third largest operating expense in most cases, and securing visibility and predictability for budgeting purposes can be a challenge. We are driving new levels of visibility and predictability for West Marine through our solutions, and look forward to assisting West Marine in identifying energy conservation measures. West Marine understands that energy conservation isn’t about saving energy at a single point in time. An energy conservation program focuses on measurable, sustainable usage reduction. West Marine is working diligently to combine economic success with environmental protection.”
