Utilities and government agencies currently offer over $1 billion in funds to offset the costs of energy efficiency capital improvements made to commercial facilities. Prenova works with customers to identify those sites and investments (new, currently remodeling, or existing) which qualify for rebates from state or federal governments, utilities, or other agencies, or for tax credits under the Energy Act of 2005. Prenova handles the administration in applying for and obtaining the rebates or tax credits on the customer’s behalf.

Problem:  Most organizations do not have the staff or tools to research and retain an up-to-date, comprehensive database that keeps track of all rebate/market programs and match them to planned improvements.  Additionally, ensuring that energy efficiency capital improvements covered under existing market programs are prioritized, timed appropriately, verified, and submitted correctly is a daunting task across a widely dispersed portfolio.  How does a company secure the maximum return on energy-related capital investments by taking advantage of existing programs to offset capital expenditures?

Solution: Through Prenova’s continually refreshed, proprietary database of available rebates and incentives, we can quickly match a customer’s planned efficiency expenditures against a range of programs. These programs may include capital investments, energy audits, load curtailment and sustainable energy efficiency programs, commissioning, and many more. We currently perform this service for many of our current customers. They have found that our market program expertise, coupled with our ability to assist in analyzing and prioritizing energy efficiency projects, is critical data input as we work collaboratively to create customer budgets and forecasts.

Our Rebate Specialists work closely with each customer to ensure that all opportunities are identified, submitted, processed, and that the funds are made available to the customer. Prenova is only paid if an opportunity is identified and fulfilled

Outcome: Customers are able to increase their return on energy efficiency investments by offsetting those investment dollars with rebate and/or market program funding.
