Product Manager, Integrated Metering Solutions

Position Summary:
The Product Manager, Integrated Metering Solutions, is responsible for the management of Prenova’s integrated metering services offering which incorporates both our energy supply and demand side service offerings. This position requires administration of the complete product management life cycle, including end-to-end management of the product services requirements, its development process and coordination of its delivery into production and post-launch activities. The Product Manager must thoroughly understand Prenova’s energy supply and energy demand side services work, how our clients utilize our services, what the competition offers and how we differ. The Product Manager, Integrated Metering Solutions position was created to bring our integrated supply/demand metering energy management service offering to market on time and at a high quality level.

  • Research & analyze market needs based on feedback from Prenova’s prospects, clients, partners, employees, energy information systems and competitive analyses.  
  • Assess feedback from marketing research to determine the requirements and capabilities for the service.

  • Prioritize the service offering requirements.
  • Prepare business case, business plans and Return on Investment (ROI) for the service offering.
  • Collaborate with the organizational leaders (executive team, technical architect, development, operations, client service and sales organization) to define the services release requirements.

Monitoring Services Development
  • Organize initial planning sessions to introduce service-offering requirements to engineering. 
  • Collaborate with the development project manager to assemble teams and create a detailed release plan and schedule.
  • Monitor services development activities to ensure Product Release Plan and Schedule are on-target from a development perspective.
  • Coordinate concurrent Alpha testing, Beta testing and market release activities for the service offering.

Managing Services Deployment and Gathering Feedback
  • Align resources for Alpha and Beta testing.

  • Write services overview, feature and benefit comparisons and services marketing materials.
  • Create Statement of Work (SOW) to define the capabilities and operational deliverables of the service.
  • Conduct sales and internal training sessions, sales calls and win/loss analyses.
  • Develop and report on product service performance and satisfaction metrics (e.g. monthly, quarterly, etc.)
  • Collect and categorize feedback from prospects and customers new services and enhancements for new product development analyses.

  • Products management or development exposure in these technical environments:
                                                               i.      Windows environments using complex RDBMS (SQL Server)
                                                              ii.      Internet protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, XML)
  1. Education (minimum/preferred):  
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Advanced degrees are highly desired, but not required.
  • Product management certifications, coursework and affiliation desirable.
  • CEM (Certified Energy Manager) / ASHRAE certification, coursework desirable.
  1. Experience:
  • 5+ years progressive experience in product management; previous hands-on experience with managed services offering a plus.
  • Solid experience in technical product management with active participation in minimum two (2) major product release lifecycles of a commercially successful product.
  • Energy management (supply or demand side) experience a must.
  • Utility metering/smart metering experience or knowledge a must.
  • Utility based demand response experience or knowledge a must.
  • Business Development experience a plus.
  • Experience with various Microsoft programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, as well as Photoshop and Quark.
