Long term reduction of operating costs is created through sustainable reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions. Asset efficiencies drive energy efficiencies. Prenova is creating a new asset life cycle paradigm that begins with the fact that there is a direct, measurable correlation between early asset degradation and inefficient energy usage. Prenova’s asset management solutions quantify that risk and produce results for increased asset and energy efficiency. We remotely link our clean technology, rich with predictive diagnostics, adaptive processes, and intelligent agents directly to customer’s facility equipment and other assets. This link is created through a connection between Prenova’s Real Time Network Operations Center (NOC) and a customer’s energy management system (EMS). From our NOC, Prenova provides the customer with continuous, real-time optimization of installed asset and whole building systems, enabling our customers to “Do More. Use Less”.

Problem: Energy prices will continue to rise, and our customers are unable to pass on the full cost of this rise to their customers. Energy-related operating costs must be reduced, and this requires reductions in energy consumption and related expenses. These reductions can only be achieved through improvements in energy efficiencies. Added to this challenge is the recognition by many organizations that the climate crisis is developing into a full-blown threat. Businesses are searching for ways to participate as good environmental stewards by doing their part to permanently lower their carbon footprint. How can a company address the climate threat and, at the same time, turn their actions into an economic opportunity for their organization?

Solution: Prenova has developed its innovative Clean Tech® solution to take traditional Demand Side Management to an entirely new level of performance, where achieved improvements in energy efficiency and resulting cost savings are fully sustainable. Our real-time Clean Tech® solution applies predictive diagnostics to a customer’s facilities. We begin improving asset efficiencies by analyzing and remotely tuning each component sequentially at the unit level. Over a short period of time, we design iterative strategies for engaging our adaptive processes and intelligent agents to automatically and remotely tune equipment to meet performance standards. Prenova’s NOC then ensures those parameters are continuously maintained in accordance with the customer’s business rules.

Once assuring individual assets are operating at planned performance levels, we then move to a focus on an asset system performance level. On a real-time basis, we identify the interdependencies and inefficiencies of the systems assets, and then balance the system as a whole. For example, as one asset in a system begins to deteriorate, the resulting inefficiency causes remaining assets to work harder (or compromise redundancy or reliability). This, in turn, increases energy consumption, shortens expected useful lives, and increases maintenance and repair costs. Prenova identifies leading indicators of unit and system level degradation and recommends as well as takes corrective actions well before any asset fails. This ability enhances the planned return on current energy investments (“do more”), and avoids unplanned costs associated with inefficient energy consumption (“use less”) or asset maintenance.

Once the system is in balance, we move to a whole building optimization process. Our Clean Tech® tools continually collect real-time data and apply predictive knowledge in analyzing operating trends to drive energy efficiency and identify early asset failure. This assessment is remotely automated, and uses our adaptive intelligence model to continually refresh learning about a facility, its environment, and its asset systems. This assessment then drives early response to any indicated system threats. Our focus on whole building optimization provides maximum assurance that customers and employees are guaranteed a quality, safe environment that minimizes harmful carbon emissions through a more efficient use of energy.

Outcome: Companies that can sustainably reduce consumption and carbon emissions at the same time will increase profitability as well as operate green for many years to come. Prenova’s focus on optimizing assets yields a high impact outcome for our customers: significant financial gains through improved energy efficiency, increased reliability of energy-related systems critical to business operations, and a dramatic reduction in harmful emissions.
