This enhancement is critical for those in the retail and commercial markets who have historically not been able to take advantage of Demand Response programs due to their need to preserve continuous operations.
Through our knowledge of our customers’ operations, our energy market expertise and our unique, Clean Tech® delivery platform, Prenova is able to remotely exercise strategies for real-time, dynamic management of our customers’ assets and facilities in meeting demand response requirements. We evaluate and design strategies for Demand Response opportunities on a market-by-market basis for our retail and commercial customers. Prenova has extended beyond the delivery of conventional Demand Response load curtailment and load shifting to include real-time strategies and solutions for mitigating peak demand without the need for business services interruption, and this is a distinctive capability in the market today.
This capability ensures that a customer’s voluntary participation when an event is called is easy, seamless, and non-interruptible. Customers’ operations are maintained, and peak energy demand is reduced.
Prenova’s focus is on optimizing existing asset performance to revolutionize energy efficiencies. Our Clean Tech® technology platform operates through a remote connection to our customers’ energy management systems (EMS), regardless of the make/model of the EMS in place. Through this connection, we continuously optimize our customers’ installed energy-related assets. This capability to focus and work directly to optimize customer assets is unique to Prenova. The EMS provides a window for us to initiate diagnostic routines for ascertaining the operating condition of individual units within individual systems or assets at the facility level for whole building optimization. This capability enables Prenova to evaluate conditions, make recommendations or take corrective actions based on the interdependencies, interactions, and inefficiencies of the units in the system, and then to balance the system as a whole.
We observe deviations from equipment and asset standards and performance metrics over time – and these data and assessments are stored and continually refreshed in our data warehouse. Prenova is currently able to remotely tune or correct over 70% of the identified anomalies remotely. If Prenova cannot remotely affect the change, we will provide prioritized action lists for maintenance attention, and Prenova will work collaboratively with the customer to evaluate the economic case for asset replacement.
This predictive capacity is a distinct competitive differentiator and is not independently replicable. We have developed our predictive capabilities through the application of knowledge resident in our data warehouse against real-time data collected from customer EMS and refrigeration controllers, allowing us to leverage expert models within our technology platform.
This perspective enables Prenova to identify ways for on-going, continuous improvements in energy efficiencies and reduction of carbon emissions, yielding our customers increasing business returns over time. The robustness of the information in Prenova’s data warehouse enables us to correlate our findings to utility bill history and other key data, such as asset and maintenance service history, to establish baseline performance conditions found in each facility relating to energy consumption, equipment, and controllers. A customer’s efficiency gains from this solution are measured in terms of performance improvements gained from reducing energy consumption, reducing asset repair and replacement costs, extending asset life, reducing unplanned service call-outs, and increasing service quality. We also measure and reduce customers’ carbon emissions reductions as part of our energy efficiency results. These key performance indicators are measured and compared to the established baselines to measure and verify returns and improvements gained by customers through the utilization of our solutions.
