Prenova - Clean Energy Management

Solution: Prenova’s Remote Commissioning offering is performed through a connection to the customer’s energy management system. Through that connection, we exercise audits and performance assessment of the energy management system and the controlled assets. Using the outcomes of this analysis, Prenova is then able to remotely resolve issues of non-compliance and optimize operating parameters so as to ensure commissioning objectives and goals are met- universally. Approximately 65% to 70% of out-of-norm conditions found can be remotely resolved by Prenova from its Real Time Network Operations Center. These fixes include re-programming of energy management systems as may be required. For those matters which cannot be resolved remotely, Prenova provides detailed punch lists and remote technical support to mechanical services teams.

Following completion of this work, Prenova runs final audits of systems, equipment and facilities to set new adjusted performance baselines and score asset conditions. Prenova conducts ongoing measurements of the status and trends of each asset’s performance. We use the individual asset data to then assess the performance of the building systems as a whole. This automated assessment checks for compliance to pre-established business parameters, as initiated in our Parameter Standardization Program (PSP). The PSP assesses current schedules and setpoints, and automatically takes corrective action to reset any parameters identified as out of range as compared to revised operational requirements or in response to system overrides. Remote Commissioning minimizes energy consumption and reduces or prevents performance inefficiencies and thus premature replacement or repair of assets. Prenova’s Real Time Network Operations Center uses dynamic and proactive processes and tools to ensure that energy saving gains are sustained, and that opportunities for continual improvements of energy optimization strategies and whole building efficiencies are identified and implemented.

Outcome: Prenova’s Remote Commissioning reduces asset life cycle costs by driving increased asset uptime, longer asset life, less repairs, and fewer maintenance calls. When assets are performing efficiently and effectively, energy consumption is reduced, and customers also secure a dramatic reduction in carbon emissions from that reduced energy consumption. This is all achieved while ensuring that continuing business requirements are met.
