Solution: Prenova is committed to providing strategic and sustainable climate improvement and environmental stewardship solutions to its customers. The broad certification program consists of three parts:
- setting baselines;
- implementing technologies and solutions; and
- setting strategies for sustaining and continuously improving results.
Prenova assists our customers in documentation and certification processes such as Portfolio Offset Trading and Sequestration, ENERGY STAR Certification, LEEDS Certification, and EPA’s Green Lights Program.
Setting Baselines: Carbon footprint analysis is a complex issue. Prenova has created statistical analysis tools for analyzing and modeling baselines and benchmarks, and for improving accuracy. Prenova’s Statistical Portfolio Profiler (SPP) establishes a baseline median of energy usage and costs from which all subsequent improvements and cost analyses can be examined, measured, and verified. The Statistical Portfolio Profile also defines the relative performance (kWh/SqFt) of all sites within a portfolio, as well as carbon emissions.

This allows Prenova to categorize facility performance into operational bands grouped around the median. This categorization assists in the identification of priority performance conditions (e.g. facilities shown to be highly inefficient) and to begin the analyses of correlating factors contributing to these results. The SPP delivers metrics down to the site level which can be used to chart progress and improvements in energy efficiencies as well as verifying, through the combination of these processes, the effective movement of both the overall portfolio’s median, and each facility to the median.
Implementing Technologies and Solutions: Implementation plans offer a comprehensive approach for both purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (REC’s) , effecting actual energy reductions for reducing carbon emission contributions, and seizing market benefits potentially available through Emission Reductions Credits exchange or White Credits programs.
Strategies for Sustaining and Continuously Improving Results: Prenova’s Asset OptimizationSM solution consists of a set of diagnostic tools and integrated processes for assisting in proactively evaluating the performance of designated building systems and optimizing the customer’s energy-related assets.
Outcomes: The direct benefits delivered from these services include increased asset uptime, less repairs, fewer maintenance calls, and a dramatic reduction in carbon emissions from reduced energy consumption. These benefits are all achieved while ensuring business requirements are met. During the first six months of 2007 alone, Prenova conducted environmental and consumption assessments of more than 21,000 facility locations through the use of its Statistical Portfolio Profiler process tool set. |
